One of the key tasks of the medical-scientific department is to prepare and distribute well-founded, comprehensible information for various target groups, including internal lines of business, but also external experts and laymen.
Persons working in such positions must be able to provide easy-to-understand information to patients, but also demonstrate scientific competence when publishing information in professional journals. The medical-scientific department also creates scientific product brochures, provides answers to questions and requests coming from experts and laymen, and is responsible for relations with experts on conferences, in clinics and medical practices.
In small and midsized businesses, the medical-scientific department often is not an independent organizational unit, but is part of the medical department, which also comprises the clinical trials and regulatory affairs divisions. Based on these fields of activities, the medical-scientific department is also involved in product development and the subsequent medical-scientific marketing.
